PHASE 1 OF NEW MOGADISHU’S MODERN SHARED-SURFACE ROAD COMPLETED

New Mogadishu is pleased to announce the successful completion of Phase 1 of the modern Shared-Surface Road Project in New Mogadishu, Dayniile.

The road has been designed to create a safer, more attractive and better-organised neighbourhood environment for motorists, pedestrians and the wider community. Rather than strictly separating vehicles and pedestrians, the shared-surface design allows everyone to use the road responsibly within one carefully planned public space.

This approach helps to reduce vehicle speeds, improve pedestrian safety and encourage greater awareness among all road users. Similar shared-surface designs have been successfully introduced in major cities around the world, including Exhibition Road in South Kensington, London.

For New Mogadishu, this project represents more than the construction of a road. It is part of our wider commitment to developing a modern Somali neighbourhood with improved infrastructure, safer public spaces and a stronger sense of community.

The completion of Phase 1 marks an important step forward in our vision to create roads that meet the needs of residents, support the movement of vehicles and pedestrians, and enhance the appearance and liveability of the neighbourhood.
